| Dorsal Stripe |
The line down a
Pygoras back that is often darker than the goats primary color. |
| Fineness |
Microns are a
scientific and objective measurement of fineness. Show ring
measurement is subjective. It takes practice feeling fleece to become
proficient. |
| Finish |
The very end of the
lock or curl; is it curly or straight |
| Guard Hairs |
The coarse body
hairs on type B and C goats. |
| Handle |
The way the fiber
feels. Takes practice to develop. Hints: A, silky, smooth, cool.
B, light, fluffy. C, creamy, warm. |
| Length |
How long the fleece
is. |
| Luster |
The amount of shine
in the fiber. Type A has lots of luster, type B has some, and true
type C has none. |
| Martingale |
A dark shoulder
pattern on the Pygora buck. Great contrast in caramels, less in the
greys. |
| Separation |
The difference
between guard hair and fiber. Most pronounced in type C. |
| Style |
The amount of curl.
Type A has ringlets, type B has soft curls, and type C has no
curls. Types B and C: may have wavy guard hair. |
